On Saturday, November 2, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., TUC’s EURECA-PRO team (staff and student ambassadors) will be hard at work at the Science Building on TUC Campus, engaging young children in various interactive, playful and bilingual activities exploring Responsible Consumption and Production (RCP) and the EURECA-PRO European University Alliance, as part of the Science and Technology Day "Thelma Mavridou" event.
The Science and Technology Day "Thelma Mavridou" event is mainly aimed at primary school children and is organized for the 8th time with a renewed program and new actions for the "little scientists". This is the largest outreach activity of the Technical University of Crete, during which children, under the supervision of experienced collaborators and volunteer students, will perform a variety of experiments with impressive or even "magical" results. At the same time, they will be able to attend demonstrations of technological applications using research models and tools developed at the Technical University of Crete.
The event features activities and kiosks by research laboratories and teams from all Schools of the Technical University of Crete, supported by many student volunteers, who ensure that it runs smoothly.
The Science and Technology Day "Thelma Mavridou" event is an experiential educational experience based on the respect for natural sciences and engineering, in the spirit of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) educational activities. The interactive activities implemented help to "discover" new knowledge with the ultimate goal of cultivating research mood and attitude to primary school children.
