The Technical University of Crete, in the context of EURECA-PRO, the European University on Responsible Consumption and Production, organizes a free online course on "Innovation & Entrepreneurship", consisting of a series of 14 lectures presented by leading professors and researchers of seven European universities from six countries. The goal is to nurture students and scientific staff in creative and innovative thinking by providing practical knowledge, skills and competences in business and market basics, offering business plan orientation, and promoting problem-solution thinking and leadership skills.

Abstract

The main purpose of the lecture is knowledge provision about the role of innovation in developing new ventures. General overview of business ventures is presented, also different types of new business ventures are discussed supported by examples from Poland, Europe and USA. The lecture is focused on risk and pitfalls of new ventures development caused especially by ethical and market issues.


Short Bio

Sławomir Olko is an Associate Professor with the Faculty of Organization and Management at the Silesian University of Technology. His work focuses on the development of regional clusters and innovation networks. Since 2010 he is a member of a group of experts preparing the Regional Innovation Strategy of the Silesia region and it’s updates. He is the author of more than 90 publications on management.
