The Technical University of Crete, in the context of EURECA-PRO, the European University on Responsible Consumption and Production, organizes a free online course on "Innovation & Entrepreneurship", consisting of a series of 14 lectures presented by leading professors and researchers of seven European universities from six countries. The goal is to nurture students and scientific staff in creative and innovative thinking by providing practical knowledge, skills and competences in business and market basics, offering business plan orientation, and promoting problem-solution thinking and leadership skills.

Abstract

This lecture is about recent developments in sustainability reporting and its impact on companies, especially start-ups. The following questions will be addressed: 

  • What regulations exist at EU level for sustainability reporting?
  • What developments can be expected?
  • What is the relationship between global standard setters and EU initiatives?
  • What does this mean for the financing of companies and start-ups?


Short Bio

Prof. Dr. Karina Sopp holds the Professorship for Entrepreneurship and Business Taxation at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg. Her research focuses include sustainability reporting, sustainable transfer pricing, tax compliance and the analysis of steering standards for preferential taxation of sustainable concepts (e.g. taxation of electromobility). Karina Sopp is the initiator of the "FOUNDress" program to promote start-ups by women.
